Our Challenge
The two co-owners of a highly-anticipated West Village wine bar engaged E|H in the months leading up to their opening. With no prior hospitality experience, they were immensely risk-averse and looked to E|H to ensure their business was protected and prepared for a smooth opening. Key tasks included selecting and implementing an HRIS, educating and upskilling the owners and management team on leading HR practices, building an excellent employer value proposition, and helping to recruit and hire the new team.
Our Solution
E|H began by developing the company’s recruiting and onboarding tools and SOPs, taking every opportunity to educate the team on the “why” behind these HR best practices. As part of building the HR foundation, our team implemented standard processes and procedures, developed an employee handbook and created other culture-oriented materials for the new staff. We also supported their new team with various HR-related requests and questions that typically come with opening a new business.
The Results
The owners opened their wine bar with confidence, knowing their HR practices were sound—from payroll to new hire paperwork to all of the other specific NY compliance measures. E|H worked closely with the company’s HR technology and payroll partners to implement smart solutions, enabling company growth and giving the owners more time to focus on the other facets of a new business.
