Our Challenge

A chef-driven restaurant group had a newly promoted HR generalist with extensive F&B management experience but no formal HR background. The leadership team needed a flexible solution to mentor the HR generalist and support their growing staff as they emerged from the pandemic and opened a new outlet out of state. They were also interested in ensuring compliance across the board after they experienced a costly wage & hour class action lawsuit.

Our Solution

E|H jumped in immediately by providing on-call support to the HR generalist, serving as a sounding board for her everyday decision-making. While giving attention to the HR generalist’s urgent needs, we also started the methodical process of HR discovery, to learn the full functionality of the existing department and identify urgent compliance issues. E|H also focused on optimizing the company’s HRIS, ADP TotalSource— a robust system was severely utilized.

The Results

E|H implemented large-scale improvements like a new digital onboarding process and an employee file audit. E|H also helped the HR generalist monitor employee satisfaction to improve the company’s workplace culture. By delivering extensive management training on employee coaching and counseling, recruiting, sexual harassment prevention, and other topics, E|H helped build strong alignment within the management team to protect the company from future lawsuits.
